How to put an eSIM on a physical SIM card

Convert any eSIM plan into a normal SIM card with a rewritable eUICC card — even if your phone has no eSIM support.

1

Get a rewritable eUICC card

A rewritable eSIM card looks like a normal SIM but contains the same secure chip (eUICC) that eSIM phones use. The eSIMMate Card ships ready to use with the companion app.

2

Get your eSIM activation code

Buy any travel eSIM plan from your provider. They will give you a QR code or an activation string that looks like LPA:1$server$code. Don't have a QR handy? Our free QR tool can generate or decode one.

3

Write the profile onto the card

Open the eSIMMate App on an Android phone, scan the QR, and choose the card. The profile downloads straight into the card's secure chip — over Bluetooth or a card reader, depending on your setup. It takes under a minute.

4

Insert and use

Move the card into the phone where you want the data plan. It registers on the network like any regular SIM. No eSIM menu, no QR scanning on that phone needed.

5

Switch plans anytime

The card is rewritable hundreds of times. Delete the old profile, install a new plan for your next trip, and reuse the same card.

Frequently asked questions

Can you convert an eSIM to a physical SIM card?

Yes. A rewritable eUICC card behaves exactly like the eSIM chip inside a modern phone: install an eSIM profile onto it with an activation code, then insert it into any phone with a normal SIM slot.

Which phones work with a rewritable eSIM card?

Any phone with a standard SIM slot — no eSIM support required. That includes older iPhones, Samsung A-series, and most Android phones without built-in eSIM.

Can I reuse the card with different plans?

Yes. The card is rewritable: delete the old profile and install a new one, hundreds of times over the card's lifetime.

Does it work with any eSIM provider?

It works with providers issuing standard GSMA activation codes (LPA:1$...), which is what most travel eSIM brands use. A small number of carriers lock profiles to specific devices.

Is installing a profile onto the card safe?

The profile downloads directly into the card's secure eUICC chip. Keys and credentials stay inside the chip's secure environment — the same protection as a phone's built-in eSIM.

Why convert an eSIM to a physical card?

Most new flagships have eSIM, but millions of perfectly good phones don't. A rewritable eSIM card bridges the gap: you keep buying cheap, instant eSIM data plans, and use them in any device — an older phone, a second phone, a tablet with a SIM slot, or a mobile router.

It is also handy for travel: install a data plan at home on Wi-Fi, and land abroad already connected.
